Event management is the planning, organizing, and executing an event for a particular venue or audience.  It involves lot of hard work, effort and creativity.

For planning an event, the event manager should understand in depth the particular event which is to be hosted. Apart from all these one should have the knowledge in managing the events within the specified budget and on stipulated time. The sequence of events should be planned much before the said time to complete on specified time and make the much easier.

The arrangement, decoration, furniture arrangement, lighting arrangement, projection of sounds and the entire surroundings should blend with the event that is being hosted. Presentation is an important factor in event management to host a successful event so that the audience has a pleasant experience .

Employment opportunities for event management are expected to grow faster than other careers in the next few years. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in the liberal arts and some meeting planning experience. Meeting and convention planners can qualify for their jobs through a variety of methods. Many migrate into the occupation from other occupations when they are given meeting planning duties in addition to their other duties.

Median annual earnings of meeting and convention planners in May 2004 were $39,620. The middle 50 percent earned between $31,180 and $50,790. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $24,660, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $65,060

Event planners often work long hours in the period prior to and during a meeting or convention, and extensive travel may be required. While planners organising corporate events are paid well and are busy through out the year, work may be seasonal for event planners organising events related to certain festivals
